Loggerhead Sea Turtle Mama’s false crawl

Sometimes a sea turtle can make her way up a beach, and decide she doesn’t like it.  Sometimes it is because she bumps into something (which is why they don’t let you leave your beach chairs out on turtle beaches).  In this case, she got to the top of the dune and it wasn’t flat up there, so she slid down the other side.  😦  Then she went back to the sea without laying her eggs.

They make an interesting track.  The “V” points in the direction she was travelling.

It’s a lot of work to haul that much body up a steep slope of sand!

Better luck next time!
