Clay: Glaze pain
Ok, you see the lovely crackle-y green towards the bottom of this piece? That’s green Celadon. That is the color I was going for.
Not red. There must have been a contamination in the glaze. So this piece that goes with my Heart Condition series ended up being the most red of all my hearts. Interesting. But not what I expected.
I leave the insides of the boxes rough on purpose. I think it looks somewhat like muscle tone that way.
These clay vessels also received the same glaze with the same results. They were supposed to be the pale green with a darker green spotted glaze in some areas.
That is one of the beauties and annoyances of glazing–you can’t control the results!
